Lessons

Lessons at Southern Cross StablesSouthern Cross Stables offers group and private horseback riding lessons for folks of all ages and skill levels.   From two-year olds to seniors, beginners to Olympic athletes, an individual with a disability or active circuit competitor, Southern Cross Stables can provide you with quality lessons.

Our 3 instructors, some with CHA Certification, provide our students with an active approach including learning responsibility for the care, feeding, safety, tacking and untacking, and proper mounting and dismounting of a horse.  Younger students are taught the basics with beginning pony rides.

Students are taught in our lit, dragged, and watered competition-size riding arena while parents and grandparents sit under a big oak tree and watch.

Our school horses are available to use in your lesson as well as all the tack and helmets.  To learn more about our horses, click here.

Lessons at Southern Cross StablesSo whether you are into hunter jumper, jumper, dressage, basic equitation, horse safety or western pleasure, we have a lesson just for you.  Call today to schedule your horseback riding adventure.

Did we mention that if a student qualifies, we will take them to a show? How cool is that!

Lesson Guidelines

  • Southern Cross Stables will provide equipment necessary for the horses used in lessons.
  • The clients may use their own saddle provided it has been approved by a Southern Cross Stables staff member.
  • If assistance is needed from the instructor to properly prepare and care for the horse it will be within the lesson time.
  • With prior permission and assistance is not needed from the instructor,  a student may come early to prepare for their lesson .
  • Students must wear helmets appropriately fitted while riding.
  • Your first lesson at Southern Cross Stables will be an evaluation of your riding ability to help us determine which class level would be the best for you. Your evaluation instructor will conduct your lesson, explain our school procedures and take you on a short tour of our facility to acquaint you with the locations of the office, stables, tack rooms, restrooms, phone, and other important areas.
